Clinical Director Marc Wurgaft

Hosted by Marc Wurgaft, LCSW, LCADC, CCS, Clinical Director, The Counseling Center at Fair Lawn

In 1980 Marc started his career in mental health treatment at Brooklyn Center for Psychotherapy. Not only does he have nearly four decades of experience in clinical environments, he also launched two treatment programs; New Directions Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Treatment Program at Brooklyn Center for Psychotherapy in 1987 and The Dr. Helen May Strauss Clinic at Youth Consultation Services in 2005.

In 2013, Marc joined The Counseling Center at Fair Lawn as the Clinical Director where he works directly with the clinical staff in all patient care and treatment plans. He carried out the introduction of our Mental Health program and has worked tirelessly to make it as beneficial and effective as possible for our patients.

Featured Speaker: Ryan Guterl, MA, LAC, Assistant Clinical Director, The Counseling Center at Fair Lawn

Ryan, who earned a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling, has been with The Counseling Center for three years. He has a great deal of experience working with both adults and adolescents struggling with mental illness. He is going to give us insight and examples of who can benefit from our mental health IOP, and walk us through the process for someone entering the program, all the way from their initial clinical evaluation to determining the appropriate treatment plan for the individual.

Dr. Robert White

Guest Speaker : Dr. Robert White, Director of Medical Affairs, Sunrise Detox Centers

Dr. White has been working in mental health and addiction treatment for 20 years, during which, he has contributed numerous articles and manuscripts on these subjects for text books and medical journals. At this seminar, Dr. White will educate us on the connection between mental health and substance abuse disorders, explaining how people with undiagnosed or untreated mental health issues find relief in self-medicating with drugs and alcohol, causing a substance abuse disorder on top of their mental illness. He will guide us the through the treatment process for this type of patient and explain why it is vital for them to complete a medical detox program prior to receiving a psychiatric diagnosis.

Getting Started
with a Clinical Assessment

The Counseling Center at Fair Lawn is an outpatient treatment center for adults and adolescents. The Counseling Center is licensed by the State of New Jersey to provide a full spectrum of mental health and addiction services, for dual diagnosis, addiction, and co-occurring disorders associated with substance abuse.

Clinical mental health assessments, psychiatric evaluations, and individual, family and group psychotherapy are available for Adults & adolescents age 15 and older. Pharmacotherapy is available as appropriate.

Substance abuse treatment services include assessments, urine drug screening (UDS), psychiatric evaluations, adult Intensive Outpatient (IOP) groups, outpatient counseling, and adolescent individual & family counseling, as well as clinically appropriate pharmacotherapy.

Eligibility for all programs is based on a clinical assessment. Now offering Saturday assessments!
